Young Israel to Honor Fishmans - Community Award Recipient: Bob Abrams


The Young Israel of Stamford will be celebrating its Annual Dinner on March 23rd, at the Stamford Sheraton. The synagogue will honor Elie and Suzanne Fishman for their years of devotion to the Young Israel, while Bob Abrams will receive the Community Service Award. The evening will celebrate the theme, "Who is wise? He who learns from every person."

Rabbi Avi Billet is our YI scholar for Feb. 22-23


We are priviged to be hosting Rabbi Avi Billet on Shabbat of February 22nd and 23nd.

Rabbi Billet is an educator, mohel, writer, and actor. He currently works for the National Jewish Outreach Program, where he is in charge of writing and implementing Jewish education initiatives. He writes a weekly Torah column in The Jewish Star of Long Island and recently finished authoring a practical book for new parents on the ins and outs of bris milah. Rabbi Billet has spent summers as drama director in Camp Moshava and has a recurring role in the play "The Quarrel" which will next be performed in Manhattan on March 17. He and his wife Chana are the parents of Aliza, Yehuda and Yael.

On Shabbat day, Rabbi Billet will be speaking about the following three topics:
Sermon: Heeding the Battle Cry
Shiur/Lecture: In Gold We Trust
Seudah Shlishit: Pitfalls of Leadership


End-the-Madness


End The Madness proudly announces its 4th Annual Stamford Shabbaton:
Shabbat weekend, February 22-23, 2008,

Age Range: 23-30 years old, Cost: $35. Attendees will be joining their hosts for both Shabbat dinner and Shabbat lunch in groups of six (three males and three females). Friday night there will be an oneg, and Shabbat afternoon there will be a scheduled activity, followed by Mincha, Seudah Shlishit, & Maariv.
